Extra funding for fisheries projects

£117,600 available to help projects in Montrose or Arbroath focused on development or diversification

European Maritime and Fisheries Fund through the North East Scotland Fisheries Local Action Group (NESFLAG)

Angus Council works exclusively with Crowdfunder to distribute extra funding through grants. 

To be eligible for funding, your project must contribute to one or more of the activities and targets set out in the Local Development Strategy for Angus, which can be downloaded from the Library section of the NESFLAG site.

Businesses, individuals and organisations can apply for extra funding through Crowdfunder, but you must be crowdfunding an idea and hit 25% of your funding target to be considered.

What can you fund?

Through NESFLAG, Angus Council can contribute up 50% of your project’s crowdfunding target.

Projects must demonstrate that they align with EMFF priorities and objectives:

Adding value, creating jobs, and promoting innovation at all stages of the fisheries and aquaculture seafood supply chain

  • To enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the current fleet
  • Improve local use of produce and add value

Supporting diversification within the fisheries and aquaculture sectors 

  • Adding value by building on local processing techniques 
  • Increasing customers for local fisheries related restaurants and processed fish 
  • Attracting more visitors and related spend
  • Increasing business numbers and jobs through supporting fisheries related enterprises

Supporting lifelong learning and job creation in fisheries areas 

  • To support new businesses related to fisheries linked initiatives and help them recruit appropriate skills
