Aim: Our Hurricane Hangar and Display and Events Room has now been approved. We just need to raise a final £5,000 for the hangar's roller door.
The Prize
The winner will receive a 2025 Events Season Ticket to be able to come with a friend or relative to any of the year's special events we hold. Events variously include additional exhibits and stalls put on by people with a WW2 period interest, wartime equipment, vintage machinery, classic and vintage vehicles, cycles from the Penny-Farthing to wartime cycles, 1940s style singers, music, dance groups, wartime re-enactors, and much, much more, plus of course the museum's exhibition halls and displays will all be open.
The Cause
Building an aircraft hangar is very important. Achieving this will save us from having to dismantle our Hurricane when strong winds are forecast and storing for the winter months. Separating the wings from the fuselage and moving both to safety is a major job, takes around eight people and a trailer with a crane.
In addition, the hanger will enable the museum to put on winter events in-doors and show how the RAF helped the UK avoid a Nazi invasion during WW2.
