Aim

Folkestone Live, Festival of theatre and comedy at Grand Burstin Hotel and Old Cigar & Olive, Folkestone, Kent all weekend 19th -21st, 2025.

https://www.folkestonelive.com/

Folkestone Live is an inclusive, progressive performing arts festival which aims to bring first class fringe theatre and comedy to the heart of the town at affordable prices. Now in our second year, we are working with schools to encourage children, students and the local community to watch and participate in live performances, bringing people together, sharing laughter, developing empathy and challenge perceptions as only theatre can.

As can be seen from our website, this year we have a line-up of 29 shows, including theatre, stand-up, comedy, children’s shows, and cabaret, performed by professionals from Kent and beyond.

In order to maintain the festival, we have become a Community Interest Company, run throughout the year by volunteers. By contributing to our crowdfunding you will be not only helping performers to gain further following, cheaper tickets to allow an audience to afford live theatre experiences for the price of a couple of pints,  but also to help fund volunteers expenses and even to reimburse some of them for their time plus fund continual website management; online portal and our general admin and social media facebook ads or general marketing.  Help grow our community of creatives!  We are very grateful to sponsorship from Tony Hills Estate, Roger de Haan festival fund; Folkestone and Hythe Council and Vita Paladino.

If you contribute to our crowdfunding, you will be helping performers experiment, gain experience at grassroots; showcase their talent independendantly  and provide professional theatre at grassroots.  Part of this money is to fund costs of running the website, volunteers' expenses and online portal, as well as marketing.   We are registered as a community interest company but the preparation has taken all year and the workload is too much for volunteers.  It would be magical if freelancers could be reimbursed for at least some of their time.  You would be helping this creative company grow annually and keep theatre alive in Folkestone.
