A Sustainable Future For People's Prop Department

Aim

Help the People's Prop Department buy a football scarf machine so they can pay their rent and grow to support more grassroots campaigns!

People’s Prop Department is a collective of designers, prop-makers and textile artists who lend their talents to build eye-catching props, puppets and banners for social movement groups. Our work has got campaigns featured in national newspapers and netted hundreds of thousands of views on social media.

For the past four years, People's Prop Department has been able to operate thanks to access to free workspace. As that comes to an end, we need to find a sustainable way to cover our running costs — and we think we've found a solution.

Having realised that our local anti-fascist football club Clapton CFC was selling hundreds of scarves a year, we started looking at whether we could buy a machine that would cover their needs. Digging further, we realised that if we picked up even one more club, or a few orders from movement groups, we would be able to cover all of our running costs, and pay off the machine in under a year.

We've already raised nearly all the money needed for the machine. Now we need your help with the remaining costs of getting it up and running, so we can start producing scarves this winter!
