What happened at the #G7Fringe?
by Crowdfunder | Jun 14, 2021 | Stories
We wanted to update you on what’s been an incredible week down in Cornwall where we hosted the official #G7Fringe to get our world leaders to take action!
This action packed extravaganza included #BackTheFuture LIVE: Cornwall Climate Challenge and a Q&A with Seaspiracy Director Ali Tabrizi.
You see, while the Presidents and Prime Ministers met at Carbis Bay for the G7, we wanted to tackle some of the big questions of our time while coming up with actions we can all take for a more sustainable future.
We were joined by some amazing organisations and individuals from the UK and beyond. In fact, on Saturday 12 June, we hosted ‘The World is Not Enough’ to discuss the world’s biggest challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and equality with input from big names like YouTube, UNICEF, Facebook, Instagram and more.
You can see the full list of events here.
Needless to say, seeing the crowd come together for these events was incredible. It truly shows just how much the community wants to make change happen, for the sake of our planet’s future. Everyone here at Crowdfunder is excited to see what comes next. After all, we know that when we all come together amazing things can happen.

#BackTheFuture LIVE: Cornwall Climate Challenge
What a night we had! On Thursday 10 June, we hosted #BackTheFuture LIVE: Cornwall Climate Challenge—an inspiring online event with Cornwall Council. Hundreds of people have already tuned in to watch the event and the nail biting moments of our two projects crowdfunding live. You can watch it here!
Cornwall Council awarded Loveland Community Field Project £6,000 and Waterhaul £4,000 to make their ideas happen!
But it’s not over!
There’s a share of £30,000 in match funding available for 10 planet positive projects in Cornwall! We want to hear from individuals, groups and organisations who are tackling Cornwall’s climate emergency head-on and inspiring others in their endeavour to do so. You can find out more here.
Seaspiracy’s crowdfunding adventure
Have you seen Seaspiracy’s Crowdfunder project? Ali Tabrizi, Director of the groundbreaking Netflix documentary, hosted a #G7Fringe event and told the world about his new crowdfunding adventure. He wants to get world leaders to establish and enforce the protection of at least 30% of our oceans from industrial fishing by the year 2030 through a series of explosive and international awareness raising stunts.
Ali was joined by an amazing panel for a live streamed Q&A, including Seaspiracy Assistant Director Lucy Tabrizi, Hugo Tagholm from Surfers Against Sewage, Emily Stevenson from Beach Guardian, Captain Watson from Sea Shepherd and Cyrill Gutsch from Parley for the Oceans as well as our host Jess Ratty.
