I need your help to power my campaign to be the MP for Manchester Central. For a greener, fairer future for ALL, we need REAL CHANGE.

by Ekua Bayunu in Manchester, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom

With an unexpected election upon us, we're racing against time to secure the funds needed to stand  passionate Green candidates across the city and Greater Manchester.

Why support me?

As one of only a handful of black working class woman socialists across the country standing to be an MP I know that only by entering parliament with The Green Party of England and Wales can I affect the change this city and this country so desperately needs.

Because the Green Party  knows that there is no climate justice without  social justice, I can make pledges that help both People and Planet.

Following 3 years experience as a local councillor in a Manchester Central ward I dedicate my campaign to two major areas impacting all of us in Manchester.

Creating a radical new plan for Housing in our city.

Warm housing free from damp and mould

Social Housing - affordable homes for everyone with renter protections and community services.

Affordable Housing: support for social landlords and home owners to retrofit existing houses to the highest standards and new homes built to passive house requirements.

Landlord controls to stop the cost of renting rocketing up, which in turn make it impossible for future generations to live in their own communities and creating a housing welfare bill that prevents local councils from being able to invest in services for everybody.

Support actions to bring about a permanent Ceasefire in Gaza:

Calling for a lasting ceasefire in Gaza and the safe release of hostages. We urge for an internationally arbitrated settlement for the safety and rights of Israeli and Palestinian citizens.

Guaranteeing the right to everyone to peaceful protest.

Supporting the disinvestment in the arms industry and demanding an end to the supply of weapons to Israel and to any place where armed conflict targets civilians.

Supporting the ICC call to bring to justice perpetrators of war crimes.

More about Ekua.

Ekua alongside Manchester Green Party and the national party is dedicated to:

  •  accessible public transport, sustainability and community engagement,
  • advocating for green policies that benefit the community,
  • improving local air quality,
  • promoting active transport, and ensuring equitable access to healthcare and education.
  • protecting our rivers and seas from sewage dumping, by advocating  for bringing water companies back into public hands to prevent further harm.
  • improving our Standard of Living: to implement Immediate measures to address the cost of living, like increasing universal credit and raising the minimum wage and exploring the introduction of universal basic income
  • Quality Healthcare that is accessible to all. Reversing this Tory governments attacks on our NHS with proper funding to reduce waiting times and improve access to GPs and dentists.

About the money

With the support of the Deyika Fund I've already raised £500 towards my campaign plan. I need to raise a further £2000.

All donations to your local Green Party via  this crowdfunder will go directly to support my campaign and getting our policies and pledges to the voters.

Please help us by chipping in £20, or whatever you can afford, to help get me over the line.

How Your Donation Helps

£6 Covers 10 'Vote Green' posters.

£20 covers one volunteers expenses to travel across the constituency and help deliver my message

£100 Delivers 1600 leaflets, outlining our offer to voters.

£500 Pays the fee for a candidate to stand (be added to the ballot paper).

£825 pays for the post office to deliver an A4 folded leaflet with my campaign message to every household in Manchester Central.

Please help by donating £20, or whatever you can afford, to get me over the line.

Together, we can bring real hope and real change to Manchester Central. Thank you for your generosity and support. Let's make this happen!

Important: Donations over £500.01 must come from individuals on the UK electoral register and cannot be anonymous.
