by All That Glitters in London, Greater London, United Kingdom

We’re thrilled to be celebrating six years of Women’s Writes by bringing our latest production All That Glitters to Theatre503 and Shakespeare North Playhouse in May and July 2025.

After hugely successful shows and new writing nights at The Arcola Theatre, VAULT Festival, The Park Theatre and our ONCOMM Nominated Online Festival, we’ve showcased the work of over 35 female & non-binary playwrights, have been named ‘Inspirational’ & ‘Empowering’ by DIVA Magazine, ‘Redressing the balance’ by The Stage and ‘Socially and Politically Imperative’ by London Theatre Reviews. Now, we’re back with our latest show and we need your support to bring it to life.

All That Glitters...

Jessie's got everything sorted, so when her friends hear that the Fab 5 are coming to London they lie about her perfect life in order to get her a spot on her favourite TV show. However, as she starts to dismantle everything, it unravels in a way she never imagined….

Presented by Women’s Writes and produced by Alex Critoph All That Glitters is a Queer love story with real dramatic heart.

Why we need your donation:

  • We're dedicated to representing female-identifying and non-binary voices;  according to The Stage Newspaper in 2022, 77% of produced playwrights were male. That's why platforming new voices is at the heart of everything we do.
  • Only 13% of the UK Theatre’s workforce is Queer (Gay Times) which shows a lack of diversity in our industry. We will redress the balance by engaging creatives from diverse sexualities and genders necessary to give life to this project led by a Queer Writer and Producer.  We need more LGBTQIA+ led theatre.
  • To hire Freelance Creatives. Your donation will go towards paying the performer, director, theatre technician and other creatives involved in the show. We'll be providing work for a small team of Freelancers.

After six years of Women’s Writes, we’re proud to have given a platform to many female and non-binary creatives including performers, designers, directors, writers and videographers and have provided free mentoring to young people from The University of Greenwich. We've done all this with absolutely no funding. With your donations you are helping secure the future of the company, so we can continue making thrilling new work which platforms new writing.

Your support is truly valuable to us and everyone who decides to donate will participate in a prize draw. Once we reach our goal, we will draw:

  • 3 sets of 1 pair of tickets for All That Glitters at venues of the three winners choosing in 2025.
  • 3 Women’s Writes Goodie Bundles including a playtext published by Renard Press, Women's Writes tote bag, badges & more surprise goodies.

There is no such thing as a small donation and all contributions are immensely appreciated. At the end of our run we will share the impact your contribution has made and keep you in the loop for future Women’s Writes events. (For ways to get involved as a playwright or creative, make sure you subscribe to our website at www.womenswritesfest.com)

If you would be interested in getting more involved by supporting us with a larger donation, we invite you to consider our Glitter Queen Schemes. You can email us at [email protected] with subject Glitter Queen for more information. This scheme is open for donations of £700+

All That Glitters is our current show, but our work spans multiple productions and has platformed multiple female-identifying and non-binary playwrights. If you would like to Become A Patron to support this show and beyond, then get in touch at [email protected]

What we are:

Women’s Writes is a collective of over 30 female-identifying and non-binary Theatre creatives across disciplines, creating work which subverts the traditional character archetypes. Previous work has fought climate change with We’ll Dance on the Ash of the Apocalypse at the Park Theatre by Melissa-Kelly Franklin, has retold history from the female perspective with Tawif by Srabani Sen and highlighted the side-effect of the female contraceptive pill with Chimera by Farah Najib as part of our Arcola Theatre short plays.

Our latest play All That Glitters is a Queer comedy and solo show, which follows the character of Jess as she destroys her life in order to get onto her favourite TV show.

Why we’re doing it:

We founded Women’s Writes in 2019 after noticing a lack of female and non-binary representation in the Theatre Industry, in fact according to The Stage Newspaper 77% of playwrights produced were male, even in 2022. We were born out of a desire to redress the balance and tell stories written by and featuring real, fallible and complex female-identifying and non-binary characters.

Thank you for your support and we hope to see you at Theatre503 and Shakespeare North Playhouse across May - July 2025.

We can’t wait to Glitter you up :)
