10,000 x £1 = CYMRU @ IRL Wheelchair World Cup

Aim

Cymru rise up, back our Wales Rugby League (WRL) Wheelchair team. We lost our World Cup shirt sponsor so need 10k Welsh fans to donate £1!

Who are we?

We are the Wales Rugby League Wheelchair team. We are a group of elite athletes who work day jobs and have a passion for wheelchair rugby league.  We have the honour of representing Wales at the International Rugby League World Cup in Australia, October 2026.

Why are we crowdfunding?

At short notice, we have lost our World Cup shirt sponsor for the Wheelchair team. With just two months to the start of World Cup 2026 we need to harness the power of Cymru to ensure our sporting dreams come true.

We need 10k people who believe in Cymru, as much as we do, to donate £1 so that we can emblazon CYMRU on our shirts.  We will be the team playing for Wales, sponsored by the people of Wales.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. We need 10,000 Wales fans to donate £1. Not only to raise funds but raise the profile of this amazing sport! 

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Become a Sponsor. Get involved if you are a business and would like to discuss other opportunities, such as your logo the back of the World Cup playing shirt, contact us! 

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!

Your Cymru £1 in Action

Every pound raised funds our squad's expenses for the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup in Australia, 23 October – 15 November 2026.

Our elite players are all amateurs - unpaid athletes taking time off work and school to represent Wales on the world stage. Here's where your £1 goes:

• Travel to and from airports
• Accommodation before departure
• Excess baggage (15 wheelchairs take up serious space on a plane!)
• Fuel for the mini bus and kit van
• Extended medical insurance
• International driving insurance
• Spare parts
• Medical supplies

Raise more than we need? Any surplus rolls straight into the 2027/28 season - giving Wales a strong start to the next chapter.
