Join us to mark International Women's Day and #ChoosetoChallenge alongside our amazing team of brave and inspiring ambassadors!

We're calling on YOU to take on your own challenge and help support the female survivors of modern slavery, all as part of an epic team, including:

  • Julia Strachan (World Record Atlantic Rower) who's taking on a family "micro-adventure" in Jersey...
  • Emily Chalke (Ella's Co-Director) and the Ella's Team who are planning a 24 Hour Dance Relay ...
  • Jodie Gauld who has mapped a stunning 7 mile St Austell Skyline trail...
  • Kate Battersby who has planned an incredible Three Peaks Elevation Challenge...
  • Cat Withers who is setting off to row the Atlantic this March ...
  • Team HERA who are collectively walking 330km to celebrate the 330 women survivors who have graduated from HERA's programmes . PLUS...
  • Team Anglesey, who will be walking/ running/ cycling the circumference of the island of Anglesey twice. That's 280 miles!

Together, with our outstanding project partners at HERA, Ella's, The Helen Bamber Foundation and Justice & Care, we will mobilise communities, help spark change and empower female survivors to regain their freedom.

Head over to their fundraising pages (click the "Supporters" Tab above) to read the stories from the Ambassador team and see how you could adapt their challenges to work for you! You can also donate to one of their pages to support them in their challenge.

Women and Modern Slavery

  • The latest Global Report on Trafficking in Persons shows that female victims continue to be most affected by trafficking; 65% victims are women and girls.
  • Most cases of trafficking within high-income countries involve sexual exploitation of girls or young women.
  • Women have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 economic recession, putting them at even greater risk of exploitation and trafficking.

How to get involved?

We're looking for 25 people from across our community to join the #ChoosetoChallenge campaign and plan their own challenge or local "microadventure".

The campaign is open to everyone of all ages and genders. We're also thrilled to be partnering with Ella's, HERA, The Helen Bamber Foundation and Justice & Care to maximise the impact of this challenge. Thank you all for joining us!

To register for the challenge, simply set up your fundraising page via the campaign OR make a donation (of £50 or more). We will follow up by email to send over all the participant details and help you amplify your impact. If you have any questions you can email us ([email protected]) and we will help!

Our goal is to raise £10,000 to support the female survivors of modern slavery to access long term support and regain their independence across each of our project partners.

Planning your Challenge or Microadventure

Your challenge could be anything from exploring a famous local trail, taking your family on an epic woodland adventure or taking up a new activity to mark the occasion.

Here are a number of places to look for more microadventure inspiration. Plus, check out the blogs from the ambassadors taking part already:

Finally, let's all help spread the word and inspire others to join us!
