Team Anglesey

Aim

Our team are raising money, as part of the #ChooseToChallenge campaign, for female survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery.

We have joined the TRIBE #ChoosetoChallenge International Women's Day Team, to help take a stand against modern slavery and to empower survivors to regain their freedom and independence. 

Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking can often be disregarded as a 'thing of the past', but it is just as prevalent today, as it has always been -

• An estimated 40.3 million people are living in modern slavery globally. 
• 65% of these victims are said to be women and girls. (Global Report on Trafficking in Persons) 
• Within high-income countries, most cases of trafficking involve the sexual exploitation of girls and young women. 
• Due to the impacts of COVID-19, women have been put at a greater risk of exploitation and trafficking. 

As a team of 8 individuals, all based in North Wales, Anglesey, we will collectively be completing the circumference of Anglesey, through walking, running, or cycling - twice! This equals 280 miles, in total. 

All of the funds collected will be split between four amazing projects, providing long-term support for the survivors of modern slavery, delivered by HERA, Ella's, The Helen Bamber Foundation and Justice & Care.
