The Trust is the charity arm of the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators. Members' donations fund Master's degree students in UK universities and a range of schools' project, to make education affordable.

The Water Conservation Trust CIO supports education in the water and environment sectors. This is done principally through two programmes, both intended to allow students, who otherwise would find education unaffordable, the opportunity to increase their knowledge of the sectors.
For primary schools, funding allows children to attend bespoke courses in museums and city farms. Grants are also given for innovative projects highlighting contemporary issues relating to water and the environment, such as the supply of drinking water and the disposal of waste. Grants are also awarded to schools to develop the skills of children expecting to work in the environmental sector.
A perceived shortage of Masters level students entering the sectors, with up-to-date knowledge and skills, led to the Bursary Fees support programme, available to UK universities with appropriate courses. More than 150 students have benefitted from these awards.
Trustees review a range of proposals each year with a stance of how can we help.
The Water Walk, held each year, provides additional funding for the schools' programme.
