OXFORD CITY CANAL AND RIVER THAMES SPONSORED WALK
Sunday 29th September 2024
To raise funds for the school’s programme of the Water Conservation Trust CIO (the charity of the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators) members and guests of WCWC and WCT joined by past and present employees of Thames Water are taking part in a sponsored walk on Sunday 29th September along the Oxford Canal and River Thames at Oxford. By sponsoring the current/ex employees of Thames Water via this page we can apply for matched funding from Thames Water's Charity Committee so anything you donate could be doubled by Thames Water's matched contribution.
Over the last 10 years the Trust has supported projects at many schools to enhance water related science and environmental learning including installing and renovating school ponds, equipping a STEM laboratory, intalling weather stations, restoring school wildlife areas, supplying river education packs and supporting disabled children with craft and learning facilities. We focus our funding on schools with a high percentage of disadvantaged children.
Our 2024/25 programme includes :-
• The funding of mayfly in the classroom sessions for River Holme Connections
• Funding educational visits to the Museum of Water and Steam.
• Funding educational visits to Spitalfields City Farm.
• Funding to renovate a pond at Cranbourne School
• Funding to renovate a horticutural garden and pond at Northease Manor School
• Awarding pupil prizes to schools for projects associated with science and environmental learning.
Please help us to enhance water science and environmental learning in schools and remember every pound you donate could raise £2.25 for the Trust. You can really make a difference.
