Lumiere Charity is dedicated to creating meaningful experiences and changing the lives of extraordinary children who need a little more support to socialise and have fun in a safe, inclusive environment.

Too often, children with additional needs face barriers that limit their ability to play, connect, and build confidence. Families navigating these challenges can feel isolated, exhausted, and restricted in spaces that should welcome everyone. At Lumiere, we aim to change that by providing a safe, accessible place where children can truly be themselves, free from limitations.

Play should be a right, not a privilege—yet 49% of families with disabled children in the UK face accessibility barriers in even basic playgrounds. 12% feel unsafe in these spaces, their laughter overshadowed by fear and exclusion (Scope, 2022). These numbers reflect a reality that must change.

Lumiere is here to bridge that gap. Within our walls, accessibility is not an afterthought—it is the foundation. We are committed to turning isolation into connection, fear into confidence, and exclusion into a future where every child has the freedom to play, explore, and create lasting memories.

Our Soft Play Sensory Centre is due to open shortly, providing a dedicated, fully inclusive space where children can feel safe, supported, and empowered to build friendships, develop new skills, and most importantly—have fun.

Through community events, advocacy, and fundraising, we are working to redefine what inclusion looks like. Together, we can build a space where every child is valued, every family is supported, and no one is left behind.
