Make Lumiere centre even more amazing for our SEN community
On 10th May, a team of mums and dads (and other loved ones) will be taking on Run Aintree at Aintree Racecourse, for a place that has changed our families’ lives. We are running for Lumiere SEN Play Centre.
1 in 5 children have SEND yet so many families struggle to find safe, suitable places where their children can simply play, be themselves, and feel included.
So many parents of disabled children experience social isolation, with many saying they have nowhere appropriate to take their child.
We know this feeling. We have lived it And then we found Lumiere.
Lumiere is more than a play centre. It is a community. A place designed to remove barriers — not just physically, but socially and emotionally. A place where our children are not stared at, judged, or made to feel different. A place where they can build confidence, socialise, and, most importantly, have fun in an environment built with inclusion at its heart.
For us as parents and carers, Lumiere has given something just as important — connection, understanding, and the reassurance that we are not alone on this journey.
Inspired by the journey of a little boy called Jaxon, Lumiere was created to ensure that every child, regardless of ability, has a place to grow, play, and thrive. And since opening last year, it has already become a lifeline for so many local families, including ours.
We are running to help Lumiere continue this incredible work. To help them reach more families. To keep this vital, inclusive space open and growing for the children who need it most.
Because play is not a privilege. It is a right.
If you can donate, share, or support us in any way, you are helping to make sure children with SEND and their families have a place where they feel seen, supported, and empowered.
Thank you for helping us give back to a place that has given so much to us. 💛
