Aim

Help us fund our Family Support Worker to enable vulnerable Hillingdon families to thrive and give their children the best start in life.

The early years have the biggest impact. We support families through their most challenging times to help make those years count.

Our work is grounded in the principle that when parents feel better supported, more confident, less isolated and better connected to their community, their children are more likely to thrive.

With 27 years' experience, Home-Start Hillingdon recruit, train and manage a team of over 40 volunteers to support over 120 families a year across Hillingdon. Our volunteers provide bespoke, 1:1 support to families in their homes, helping them to grow in confidence, feel less isolated, better connected and more equipped to give their children the best possible start in life. 

While many families are supported by our trained volunteers, some families face multiple, complex challenges and are supported by our Family Support Worker (FSW.)

Family Support Worker Project

Every family deserves the chance to thrive, but for some, life’s challenges can feel overwhelming. Rising living costs, poor physical or mental health, disability, trauma, housing insecurity and isolation can combine to create barriers that are difficult to overcome alone.

We are crowdfunding to help fund our Family Support Worker for another 6 months, to be able to continue providing tailored support to families in Hillingdon facing multiple challenges. By stepping in early, we help prevent problems from escalating and give parents and children the tools, confidence and connections they need to build brighter futures.

With matched funding from Together for Good: SBF GB&I Community Fund, your donations can go twice as far and double the impact of your support.

Our FSW visits families for 2-3 hours each week over six months, helping them work towards their own goals, recognise their strengths, overcome challenges and access local services. Families are connected to community groups and activities, building support networks that last beyond our involvement.

The impact is clear: 100% of families supported by our FSW last year reported coping better after receiving support.

In the words of a family supported by our FSW, "I’m very thankful to the service I received, I felt validated in the emotions I was going through and supported that I am making the right decisions for my family. This does have an impact on my family as I feel more confident and settled in my role as a mum."
