Foxie's Future

RCN 1204342, Eastleigh

Foxie's Future is a CIO (charity with RCN 1204342) which was incorporated in August 2023 following Girlguiding UK's decision to close and sell the Foxlease Activity Centre, just outside Lyndhurst. The site is comprised of a heritage building and 63 acres of surrounding lands, which host residential accommodation facilities, camping and adventurous activities. The purchase price for the main lot is advertised at £2.5m. The charity's aim is to purchase the site from Girlguiding UK in order to save it from closure and to ensure that the site remains available for young people and the local, national and international community that currently uses the site. The project is making good progress, with in excess of £1 million of funding secured since June 2023 through a mixture of donations, pledges, fundraising and and grant applications, with a further grant applications pending. The charity is exploring a range of partnership options to enable it to submit a bid to Girlguiding by the deadline to do so on 21st March 2024. We will continue to seek donations after that date as there is an ongoing need to fundraise, which will continue if the bid to purchase is successful. The project has achieved tremendous support in a short space of time but there is a real time pressure to raise the funds needed to secure the purchase by early next year in order for the charity to submit a credible purchase bid. Your donation will help us to reach our target goal needed in order to acquire Foxlease for the next generation of users and to preserve for them the myriad of unique opportunities which it offers - thank you for your support.

Foxie's Future

Foxie's Future is a charity (registered CIO) which has been set up in response to the decision confirmed by Girlguiding on 14 August 2023 that they will be closing and selling their Activity Centres, including Foxlease in the New Forest.  It is our intention to fundraise to purchase the site from Girlguiding when it comes to market later this year.  Our aim, if successful in our purchase, is to restore and preserve the historic buildings, site and adventurous activity provisions so that they remain available to future generations of young people and the community that currently uses the site, both local, national and international.  We believe that Foxlease is a place like no other with a unique history and a myriad of opportunities.  Your donation will help us to save this wonderful place.

We have an immediate need to raise capital quickly to support the purchase price, anticipated to be in the region of £3 million; however, once the site is obtained there will be regular running costs to support, along with repairs and restoration work.

Updates 1

Foxie's Future posted an update on 16th June 2024

Crowdfunding Update

We are contacting you as you have previously donated in support of Foxie's Future's project to try to save Foxlease - thank you!

As you may be aware from our other media channels, we are now at the stage where after further significant fundraising, we have submitted a Bid to Girlguiding UK to purchase both "Lots" of the Foxlease site.  This became necessary based on the feedback which we received on our bid submitted in Round 1 of the bidding process.  Please visit our Facebook Group for further information on how we got from there to here.

Although our Round 2 bid was submitted 6 weeks ago now, unfortunately we still have no update on a decision to share with you, but we have been asked to provide some additional information in support of our bid, including some detailed information regarding proof of funding.  This means that if you have pledged, donated or supported us via our Community Loan Scheme we may be contacting you to request further documents.  If you do not hear from us then that means that we do not need anything further from you at this time, but please do check your spam/junk email folders over the coming days.

We have to submit the additional information by Monday so we do need to ask that you move quickly for us if things are outstanding. Part of our additional information to be provided on Monday will include a funding update so we need to be in the strongest (and documented) position possible by then.

To support our Round 2 bid, we launched a Community Loan Scheme, through which we have now funded over £1 million. If you were not previously aware of this and are able to support us via our Community Loan Scheme by loaning £1,000 or more for 12 months, or if you have loaned and are able to loan more, then please contact us as soon as possible via [email protected] so that we can get that documented in advance of Monday.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we approach this (hopefully) final hurdle to the finish.
