Aim

Celebrating the 330 women survivors who have completed HERA programmes and #choosetochallenge their futures!

HERA is on a mission to empower women survivors of modern slavery and exploitation to achieve a better life and financial freedom. Working with business and academic mentors to build survivors capacity, knowledge and confidence to gain employment and achieve their ambitions!

We are proud to be partnering with the TRIBE Freedom Foundation for this event. They are a charity on a mission to fight modern slavery and end human trafficking!

Our Challenge

Team HERA will be collectively walking a total of 330km to celebrate the 330 women who have graduated from HERA programmes!

These women inspire us daily! They have overcome great trauma and at HERA we get to see their transformation through our programme, growing from strength to strength, gaining confidence and taking the next steps in their recovery and freedom.

Team HERA:

  • Sophie-Rose Holt - "Every woman matters! I'm walking for all the women who had the confidence to walk into their dream & for those who will follow"
  • Daisy Cross - "There is 330 reasons as to why I'm doing this challenge! But theres is  millions of other reasons why we need you to support us in our missions!"
  • Eleanor Quinn & friends - "I'm completing this challenge because I believe in HERA's model of survivor-centered economic empowerment, and in each of the 330 inspiring graduates (and counting) of the HERA Programme!"
  • Helen Chang & Amelie - "We want to walk because we believe that no one should have to suffer and that we support this charity completely. GO HERA!"
  • Anne Cruikshank, Simon, Alfie & Joseph Darlow – “Walking to support the ongoing journey for the first 330 HERA graduates and the journey for the next 330!
  • Peter Holt - "It's important to raise awareness of modern slavery and support survivors as they start their free lives and reach their ambitions!"
  • Andy Fanner
  • Joanne & Dru and their families

The Team will be completing the 330km across Saturday 6 - Monday 8 March.

Did you know?

  • An estimated 40.3 million people are living in modern slavery worldwide.
  • The latest Global Report on Trafficking in Persons shows that female victims continue to be most affected by trafficking; 65% victims are women and girls.
  • Most cases of trafficking within high-income countries involve sexual exploitation of girls or young women.
  • Women have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 economic recession, putting them at even greater risk of exploitation and trafficking.

This needs to stop.

Funds raised will be split between four incredible projects, each providing long-term support for the survivors of modern slavery, delivered by HERA, Ella's, The Helen Bamber Foundation and Justice & Care.
