Making our video | Diaries of a crowdfunder

Ok, once your page is ready it’s time to think about your video. I started gathering footage a little while back for our social media pages so I know I have an interview with a special customer Jan already, but I could do with a couple of extra voices from Alice and Karen. I also need to collate all videos from the past two years so I have enough footage to go over the video as I expect it to be quite lengthy based on other project videos.

I recommend taking the time to think about footage you already have and what you could easily turn into a project video, or if you have nothing, perhaps you could start to plan a way to tell your story in video form.

My other tip is to utilise the people in your community and network. You would be surprised at the secret skills people have. Don’t be afraid to put a shoutout on your social pages or linkedin for some support. People are extremely generous when it comes to their community or a good cause. You might be able to find someone with a camera who could film some interviews, or someone who is more au fait with editing than you, and before you know it you have a project video created between you all.

If you don’t have the time to create a video or the concept is simply too overwhelming, don’t worry. A video is not compulsory, in fact there have been some very successful projects that didn’t have a video.

Great project video examples

Here are some fab videos from other projects that I think tell their story well:

1. Finsbury Park Skate Plaza

2. Fight for Children’s Writes!

3. Race to Space
