Creative Scotland and Crowdfunder launch the Creative Scotland Crowdmatch competition to award £80,000 to 20 creative projects in the country
  • A total of £80,000 match funding is on offer from Creative Scotland as part of their Creative Scotland Crowdmatch competition in partnership with Crowdfunder.
  • Through this initiative, individuals, groups, and businesses across the country can get up to £10,000 towards a crowdfunding campaign to support their creative ideas.
  • To enter the competition, entrants must tell Crowdfunder about their creative idea in 100 words before midday on 7 February 2022.

Following the success of the initiative in both 2020 and 2021, Creative Scotland and Crowdfunder have once again teamed up to launch the Creative Scotland Crowdmatch competition to award £80,000 in funding to 20 creative projects across the country. Last year’s competition saw 19 creative ideas raise over £204,000, resulting in a total of £75,000 of funding being released.

This year, they are on the lookout for creative individuals, groups and businesses based in Scotland who are working in the arts, screen and creative industries that need money to support their next big idea. Each project can get up to £10,000 in funding and must run a crowdfunding campaign. The selected entrants will receive tailored coaching support from Crowdfunder’s experts, along with access to a 24/7 Help Centre and Coaching Hub.

Once live, the crowdfunding projects must hit a series of four milestones on Crowdfunder to receive the funding. £20,000 has been ring fenced so every project that hits milestone one will receive £1,000 of funding. The funding for milestones two, three and four will be released on a first come, first served basis.

To coincide with the competition, Crowdfunder and Creative Scotland are also hosting a free webinar on Monday 31 January 2022 to explain more about crowdfunding, the competition, and the prize funding. Attendees can sign up on Eventbrite.

Jason Nuttall, Crowdfunder’s Programme Director, said: “It’s fantastic to be working with Creative Scotland once again. In the previous two rounds of the Creative Scotland Crowdmatch we have seen a huge variety of inventive, artistic, fun-filled projects brought to life through the power of the crowd and the match funding from Creative Scotland. We look forward to seeing the ideas that come forward, and supporting the creatives to run impactful crowdfunding campaigns to help their ideas become a reality.”

Jackie Stewart, Creative Industries Officer, Creative Scotland said: “The arts and creative industries have been hit hard by the consequences of the pandemic.  Crowdfunding offers creative individuals and businesses a viable way to generate income to grow and sustain productivity.  We’re delighted to continue working with Crowdfunder to help more creative businesses in Scotland launch their own campaigns, grow their networks, increase awareness of their work and build stronger connections with their customers and audiences.”

The competition opens for entries on Monday 24 January and interested parties must tell Crowdfunder about their creative idea in 100 words before midday on Monday 7 February.
