Help us raise £15,000 to give young people in St Ives access to a supportive study and work space with mentoring and career opportunities.
Our Story
St Ives is one of the UK’s most-loved visitor destinations, but for many local young people, building a future here can be challenging. Career opportunities beyond seasonal tourism are limited, and there are few dedicated spaces for young people to study, work, and explore different pathways. Combined with the pressures of high living costs and a lack of affordable housing, many feel their options for building an independent life locally are slipping away.
About Bayspace
Bayspace CIC is an award-winning, not-for-profit workspace and enterprise hub owned and run by the St Ives community. Since the CIC was established, it has become a thriving home for small businesses, freelancers, and community events, including an award-winning pilot young leaders’ development programme.
In 2024, Bayspace became Cornwall’s first Barclays Eagle Labs delivery partner, offering a nationally recognised support programme for innovative local start-ups. This programme supported 10 free founder places for 12 months, made nearly 500 business connections and made welcomed 5000 event attendees.
Since opening, our team of community members, professionals, and volunteers work together to create a fairer and more sustainable future for St Ives, one that keeps talent and opportunity here in Cornwall.

Supporting Local Young People
We want to offer local young people aged 18–25 access to Bayspace, a professional environment where they can study, work, and connect with others. Participants will be able to use Bayspace’s facilities, including our shared workspace, high-speed Wi-Fi, events, and supportive community, while benefiting from mentoring and work experience opportunities with our network of local professionals and businesses.
Through Bayspace, young people can experience a vibrant, creative environment, where community, inspiration, and collaboration are part of daily life. They will also have opportunities to take part in networking mornings, exhibitions, and skills workshops, connecting directly with professionals across St Ives.
This initiative opens Bayspace’s environment to the next generation, helping young people explore career options, build confidence, and access real opportunities close to home.
Stretch Goal
If we reach our stretch target of £30,000, we will be able to expand the programme, welcoming even more young people and extending its duration, creating lasting impact and greater opportunity for the next generation in St Ives.
