Aim

Helping build a more welcoming, accessible and visible community space in Weston-super-Mare through WSM Pride 2026.

Building a More Accessible and Welcoming Weston Together

On Saturday 27 June 2026, WSM Pride will bring people together in Grove Park, Weston-super-Mare for a free, community-led Pride celebration built around inclusion, visibility and accessibility.

We are not a large commercial festival.

WSM Pride is being created by local volunteers who believe everyone deserves spaces where they feel safe, welcomed and able to belong — including disabled LGBTQ+ people, neurodivergent visitors, families and those who are often excluded from public events.

For many people, especially in smaller towns, Pride is more than a celebration.

It can be the first time someone feels accepted.
The first time they see people like themselves.
The first time they feel part of a community.

That is why this matters.

Why Accessibility Is At The Heart Of WSM Pride

Too often, disabled people are expected to attend events that were never truly designed with them in mind.

Temporary grass sites can become inaccessible.
Crowded environments can feel overwhelming.
Basic facilities are often missing.
Many people simply stop attending events altogether because they know they will struggle to take part safely or comfortably.

We want WSM Pride to be different.

Accessibility is not an add-on to this event.
It is one of the main reasons we are building it.

Our goal is to create a Pride where disabled people, neurodivergent people, families and people with additional needs can genuinely participate fully — not just attend on the sidelines.

Your support will help us fund:

  • wheelchair-friendly temporary pathways across the park
  • accessible viewing areas
  • accessible toilets and facilities
  • quiet and calm spaces for people who become overwhelmed
  • charging provision for mobility scooters and wheelchairs
  • dedicated accessible parking
  • welfare and safeguarding support
  • clear site layouts and accessible event design
  • independent accessibility advice and review

These things make a real difference.

They help people feel able to attend.
They help people stay longer.
They help people feel included rather than accommodated as an afterthought.

What Will Happen At WSM Pride 2026?

The day will include:

  • a community Pride march through Weston-super-Mare
  • live music and performances
  • local performers and speakers
  • community groups and charities
  • food and activities
  • a family area
  • quiet and calm spaces
  • accessible community facilities throughout the park

Everything is being designed with community, inclusion and accessibility in mind.

Why We Need Your Help

WSM Pride is entirely volunteer-led.

Nobody organising this event is being paid. Local people are giving their time, skills and energy because they believe Weston deserves welcoming community spaces that bring people together positively.

But creating a safe and accessible public event comes with significant costs.

Your donation will help fund:

  • accessibility infrastructure
  • temporary pathways and site equipment
  • welfare and safeguarding provision
  • security and first aid
  • toilets and event infrastructure
  • stage, sound and technical equipment
  • insurance and safety measures
  • family and calm spaces

Every donation genuinely helps us make the event safer, more accessible and more welcoming.

Why This Matters For Weston

This campaign is about more than funding a single day in the park.

It is about helping build the kind of community many people want Weston-super-Mare to become:

  • welcoming
  • inclusive
  • community-minded
  • accessible
  • hopeful

Pride sends a message that everyone deserves to feel visible, valued and safe in their community.

That message matters.

How You Can Help

You can support WSM Pride by:

  • donating to this campaign
  • sharing this page
  • volunteering
  • telling friends and family
  • helping spread the word locally

If you are able to donate, even a small amount can help us improve accessibility and create a Pride that more people can genuinely take part in.

Together, we can help build a more accessible and welcoming Weston for everyone.
