Support Rees Foundation and ALTEN UK to 'Rise for Rees' to help Care Experienced People achieve their potential and build brighter futures.
Welsh 3000s Challenge - Climbing the Land of Legends for Real-Life Heroes
In April 2026, a determined team from ALTEN UK will take on one of the toughest endurance challenges in the UK - The Welsh 3000s.
In just 24 hours, the team will attempt to summit all 15 Welsh peaks over 3,000 feet. This legendary route covers around 30 miles (50 km) and includes a staggering 7,800–8,000 metres of ascent and descent across the Snowdon Massif, Glyderau, and Carneddau mountain ranges.
It is widely known as one of the most difficult mountain challenges in the UK.
Why We're Doing It
Imagine being a child taken into care after trauma, neglect, or unimaginable loss. Instead of one stable home, you’re moved again and again with new bedrooms, new carers, new rules and new goodbyes. By the time you reach 18, you’ve faced more upheaval and heartbreak than many people experience in a lifetime.
And then, overnight, you’re expected to step into adulthood with no one to rely on.
Too many Care Leavers face this reality, but together, we can help change it.
This journey is about more than mountains. ALTEN UK is climbing for Care Experienced People, real-life heroes who have faced challenges far greater than any summit. Many care leavers step into adulthood without the support, safety net, or opportunities most of us take for granted. By taking on the Welsh 3000s, the ALTEN UK team is standing beside them, raising vital funds to help them rise above their past, build brighter futures, and live their best lives.
This isn’t just a mountain challenge.
It’s a climb for hope, for opportunity, and for change.
What the Money Will Be Used For
We’re raising money for the Future Me Project, which supports Care Leavers aged 16–25 as they build independent, confident futures. The funds raised will help provide:
Education and Employment:
Opening doors to education and skill-building opportunities, empowering young Care Leavers to dream bigger and access pathways that were previously out of reach.

Crisis Support
Providing essential help in moments of need for food, heating, emergency accommodation, and other vital support to ensure no young person faces hardship alone.
Career Development
Supporting young people to break into meaningful careers by overcoming barriers, gaining practical skills, and connecting directly with employers who can offer real, lasting opportunities.
Life Skills Training
Equipping Care Leavers with the everyday skills they need to thrive, from managing a home to making informed, confident decisions as adults.
Financial Education
Delivering practical guidance on budgeting, saving, managing bills, and building financial stability, which are key tools for long-term independence.
Mental Health Support
Ensuring young people can access emotional support, safe spaces, and wellbeing sessions through our Let’s Connect workshops, helping them build resilience and strong mental health foundations.
Last year alone, Rees supported more than 2,000 Care Leavers which is proof of just how essential our work is. For many Care Experienced people, Rees becomes the family they never had, a steady source of care, understanding, and encouragement during life’s toughest moments.
“After searching everywhere for help, finding the Rees Foundation was like finding a life jacket in a vast ocean. It was the lifeline I had longed for. The Foundation understood the journey I had taken; they listened and were prepared to help and understand the complexity of the trauma I carried inside me.”
This is what Rees represents, a safe place, a lifeline, a source of hope.
At Rees, we believe that care shouldn’t end at 18, 21, or even 25. Life doesn’t come with an expiry date on when you need support, and neither do we. We stand beside Care Experienced people for as long as they need us, through the good and the bad. We celebrate their achievements, lift them through challenges, and make sure they always have somewhere to turn. No one should have to navigate adulthood alone.
These young people have overcome challenges that many of us will never fully understand. With the right support, they don’t just survive, they thrive. Your donation helps provide the tools, opportunities, and stability they need to build bright, confident futures.
How You Can Help
We can’t do this without you. Every contribution, big or small, makes a meaningful difference. By sponsoring our team, you’re helping young Care Leavers break free from cycles of adversity and start creating the futures they truly deserve. Your generosity gives them the chance to dream boldly, pursue their ambitions, and reach their full potential.
Join us in making a lasting difference. Together, we can show these young people that their past does not define their future and that they are capable of achieving anything.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support.
