Warwick School hopes to fundraise £2,800 for sports trophies and computers for Paalam School in Sri Lanka.
The Warwick School U14/15 Sri Lanka Cricket Tour group are fundraising through The Dust Project, in partnership with The Paalam Project in Sri Lanka, as part of our Easter 2026 cricket tour between 27th March - 7th April 2026.
This tour is about more than cricket.
In 2026, Warwick School U14/15 cricketers will travel to Sri Lanka not only to compete, but to give back - raising funds to support children, families and communities facing real hardship.
FUNDRAISING
This fundraising is not linked to one single event; instead, each boy will create his own page and raise money in his own way, through challenges, initiatives and personal effort. Every donation, no matter the size, directly supports communities in Sri Lanka and helps our pupils understand the wider impact they can have beyond the cricket field.
As part of the tour, every pupil is set a minimum fundraising target before travelling. We believe this is a vital part of the experience. It encourages the boys to recognise the opportunities they enjoy, to develop responsibility and initiative, and most importantly, to understand how they can give back to support children and families who face far greater challenges than their own. This ethos has been central to Warwick School cricket tours since 2011, with previous tours in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2024 raising significant funds for schools and charities overseas.
With 30 students and 6 staff attending the cricket tour, Warwick School aims to fundraise £2,800 prior to their departure.
ABOUT THE FUNDRAISER
Ahead of their tour, they have a desire to fundraise to help The Dust Project's charity schools in Wattala and Jaffna. Jaffna Paalam School has an immediate need for sports trophies to be used in the school during sports meet and sporting events, as presently they borrow the trophies. Each year, trophies are borrowed from our Wattala school for the event and then returned afterward. We would love to change this by purchasing a dedicated set of trophies for the Jaffna school, which would be used year after year and help build a strong sense of pride and celebration around sports achievements. The total cost to purchase trophies for
the Jaffna school would be approximately 65,000 Sri Lankan Rupees, which is around £155. This would make a meaningful and lasting contribution to the school’s sports programme and to the students’ experience of sports day.
Additional funding will be used to purchase computers to upgrade the computer facilities at the Wattala Paalam School. At present, the school has 10 computers, most of which are very old and no longer meet the needs of our students. Recently, thanks to a generous donation, we were able to replace two of these with brand new computers. Each new computer costs approximately 180,000 Sri Lankan Rupees (around £450). Our goal is to establish a fully functional computer room with 12 new computers. With two already in place, we are hoping to raise funds for the remaining 10. Support from the Warwick School team through fundraising would make an enormous difference and have a lasting impact on our students’ education. Once the new computers are installed, we plan to donate our old computers to a government school in the Jaffna Province, extending the benefit even further.
Warwick School may also have the opportunity to visit one of the projects in Sri Lanka to see the meaningful work The Dust Project is doing in education and changing the lives of young people.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
By supporting this fundraiser, you are not only helping our pupils learn the values of empathy, service and global citizenship, but also making a genuine, lasting difference to the lives of children and families in Sri Lanka. Your generosity helps turn opportunity into action - both for those receiving support and for the young people learning how to give it.
Thank you in advance for donating to this project!
