Aim

We wish to replace the metal 1950s windows with double glazed units to make our building more comfortable for the many groups that use it

A Church with a Heart for the Community

We are a diverse small independent church fellowship that has a big heart for its surrounding community. Apart from church services on Sundays, the building is used by a variety of community groups, including:

  • a parent and toddlers group,
  • children’s choir,
  • youth group,
  • an addiction counselling group,
  • a children’s music group, and
  • bereavement support group.

These all enjoy using the premises and would all benefit from a better insulated building creating a more comfortable environment, especially during the winter months.

Updating a 75 Year Old Building

Our church building was built in the 1950s with a hall and kitchen extension added in the 1960s. More recently we have installed an accessible toilet and the ceiling of the main hall has been remodelled and insulated (see photo below), which has significantly reduced energy use and improved the comfort of the building.

However, we wish to continue the upgrade by replacing the single glazed metal windows, set in timber surrounds, with uPVC double glazed units and glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) external doors. This will make the building even more cosy and comfortable, especially during the winter months and further reduce energy costs to heat. It will also enable us to achieve a higher Eco Church award.

Project Details

It is intended that competitive tenders will be invited from at least three double glazing contractors to act as main contractor to carry out all work associated with installing the replacement units. Assuming funds have been successfully raised, work is expected to take place during October 2026.

From initial research the work, replacing 19 windows and four doors, is expected to cost approximately £20,000. We have already raised over £15,000 from our church members and would love to carry this out as a single project. We therefore encourage you to please help us serve our community in enabling the project to be completed in total.

Thank you.
