Who We Are:
For 25 years, we have supported people in recovery from addiction, using the creative arts as a vehicle for meaningful engagement. Based in Bournemouth, we also educate young people using the narrative of 'theatre in education' to enable them to make more informed choices about drugs and alcohol use whilst addressing themes of county lines, knife crime, online exploitation, and peer pressure.
A modest team of 4, supported by an eager group of volunteers and Trustees, we work holistically with other services, including treatment centres, prisons, and rehab, to offer our members a stepping stone towards employment, training, or volunteering. We perform across the locality and Dorset, using compassion and drama to overcome addiction stereotypes and to empower our community.
What's the ask?
We celebrated 25 years in 2024, and we want to secure the next 25! Supported and endorsed by Public Health Dorset, the Dorset Police & Crime Commissioner Mr. David Sidwick, Talbot Village Trust, and the SNG Group, we took our message of resilience to almost 3000 secondary school students last year: The Wasps' Nest, our new play addresses the national concerns about county lines, knife crime and online grooming. At a time when everyone is concerned about the increasing isolation of young men, our members draw on their lived experiences to strike a meaningful dialogue with students and to increase their awareness of these worrying issues.
Your support, small or large, will enable us to take our productions to even more students across BCP, Dorset and beyond!
