We need your cash and your voice. We work with broken people to transform their lives. We also build Viking boats. But we need your help.
The Viking Boat Company CIC is an award-winning community benefit organisation in Darlington that helps veterans and others experiencing PTSD, anxiety, depression, isolation, and poor mental wellbeing rebuild their lives through practical creativity and shared achievement.
While we teach traditional heritage skills such as boatbuilding, woodworking, metalworking and restoration, our real purpose is helping people rediscover confidence, resilience, purpose and connection. In a safe, supportive environment, participants work together on meaningful projects, developing new skills, rebuilding self-belief, and forming lasting friendships.
Our approach is proven. We have built a dedicated workshop, trained veterans in heritage crafts, won regional mental health awards, and completed an authentic Viking longboat using traditional methods. Participants consistently tell us that the experience gives them focus, calm, confidence, hope, and a renewed sense of belonging.
We are now seeking £35,000 to expand our facilities, including a forge, specialist craft areas and sustainable income-generating workshops. This investment will help secure our future, increase our capacity, and enable us to support many more people in need.
