To offer free career defining workshops and multi-day retreats for young people who need community, empowerment and opportunity.
ABOUT US
Hi, I'm Victor Sosanya, Founder of The Valuable Community, a social enterprise dedicated to empowering young adults aged 18-30.
Through transformative retreats, career-defining workshops and inspiring talks, we help young adults realise their value, build confidence and make a difference in their own lives and communities.
In 2022, we hosted our first ever 3-day retreat bringing together 36 students and young adults from across the country for an experience built around developing their professional and social skills.
Three of those attendees received fully funded scholarships. Many others left with their first professional mentor, their first real career plan and belief in themselves.
We've watched young people walk into our retreats with their heads down and leave ready to take on the world. We've seen confidence rebuilt, careers launched and mental health pulled back from very dark places.
That was just the beginning.
WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED
The Valuable Community has now grown into a movement of over 300 young adults, serving those from different faiths and diverse backgrounds. In four years, with zero paid staff and a 100% volunteer team, we have delivered:
- 4 transformative annual retreats bringing together 150+ people
- 22 workshops, inspiring talks and skill sessions
- 10 fully funded retreat scholarships awarded
- 24 therapy and wellbeing sessions delivered
- 800+ volunteer hours contributed by over 30 dedicated volunteers
We bring in guest speakers and professionals from across industries to mix with our members, run career-defining workshops and show young people what's possible.
WHY WE ARE RAISING MONEY
The honest truth? Sustaining this work on goodwill alone is no longer enough. Our volunteers have given everything they have but without funding, we cannot keep our events free, our retreats accessible or our community growing.
WHAT'S THE GOAL: £30,000 in 30 days!
Every pound raised goes directly towards:
- Running free workshops, talks and social events so no young person is ever priced out of the support they need
- Funding retreat scholarships so our most disadvantaged young adults can attend regardless of their financial situation
- Building our digital infrastructure and CRM so we can properly track who's in our community, understand our impact and prove with evidence that this work changes lives
- Promoting our community and work so we can reach the young people who need us most but don't yet know we exist
- Getting the right legal foundations in place including brand protection, insurance and governance, so that everything we've worked so hard to build is protected and built to last
