Who are Team Rubicon UK?
We are a disaster response charity whose volunteers are predominantly ex-military complimented by civilians often from the emergency services. We respond to natural disasters both at home and abroad. From cyclones in Mozambique and earthquakes in Indonesia to the recent flooding in Lincoln, our volunteers leave their friends, families and day jobs to provide aid to those who need it most
What makes us different?
Our people are our difference.
Being in the military provides a unique set of skills and experiences that makes our teams fit for purpose in disaster response. Their tenacity, mental and physical robustness and ability to focus on the task in hand means our teams are able to work in the most challenging environments, creating order in the chaos of disaster.
Being volunteers, our teams are light on cost meaning funds donated to our charity can be channeled direct to the beneficiary. Our responders are happy to work in the most austere conditions- sleeping in mosquito pods, eating ration packs and walking miles with their kit bags on their backs to reach those most in need means we keep costs low. Our most recent operation cost just £1.01 per beneficiary.
What do we do?
Our volunteers are rigorously trained to ensure they can respond fast, arriving just hours after disaster has struck- we are often the first aid workers to reach remote communities following disaster. Working with agility and determination, our volunteers use their training and experience to quickly and effectively map disaster locations, and ensure aid is provided wherever the need is greatest.
Who have we helped recently?
Our teams have just finished delivering life-saving aid to the people of Mozambique in the wake of Cyclone Idai and subsequent flash flooding. Our focus was on locating the most remote communities who had been shut off following the flooding, assess their needs and then organising the delivery and distribution of aid, often only possible by helicopter or aircraft.
Without Team Rubicon, thousands of people in these most cut-off communities would not have received aid.
Over the course of the operation we helped 177,807 people at a cost of £1.01 per beneficiary.
Urgent funding needed to respond again
With hurricane season is fast approaching we need your urgent support to ensure we can respond to the next disaster with the same impact. Without funding, our teams cannot be deployed to help those most in need. Our Mozambique operation cost just £1.01 per beneficiary. Your contribution can make a significant difference.
A £10 donation could help 10 people whose lives have been devastated by disaster.
Please donate whatever you can to help us help more people suffering on their darkest day.
