We look after the Playing Fields and sports facilities in the village of Upottery in Devon. We care for the community-owned Playing Field, Childrens' Play Park, MUGA (multi-use games area), football pitch, cricket pitch and tennis courts. We are currently crowdfunding to replace the much loved dilapidated equipment in the children's play park and MUGA at the heart of our village.

Who we are
Upottery Playing Fields are the much loved and well used facilities in the heart of our East Devon community. We are an active, social village with several sports clubs including football, tennis and cricket. We have a very busy play park and MUGA which is much loved and well utilised by the families of Upottery and the surrounding villages, many of whose children come to the school and preschool in the village.
What we need
The play park and MUGA are now very run down. After a successful campaign to replace the large play frame in 2023, we are now croudfunding to raise funds to replace the toddler climbing frame and to resurface the MUGA. Play parks are a vital learning environment for children: spinning, swinging, rocking, rolling motions – these sensations are fundamental to every child’s physical development, helping them build core strength, coordination and balance. Recent years have demonstrated how crucial outdoor space and activity is for mental wellbeing.
What we are doing
We have various fund raising community events taking place including quizzes, Apple Day, and other events. We are also appealing to businesses and individuals in the community, the Parish Council and regional and national grant funds to help us achieve our goal. We will be engaging with the community on designs for the new play equipment.
