STATEMENT ON PARLIAMENT SQUARE AND FLOAT RE: YESTERDAY'S EVENTS

Unite for Europe have spoken to our police liaison this morning.

We have been advised to consider, if Parliament Square is reopened before Saturday, whether we should in fact have an event there at all. It is the scene of a murder and we will consider how appropriate it is to still use that site. We will also be considering moving to our contingency.

We were also advised that the float is not appropriate given the circumstances. As a committee we discussed this last night and came to the same conclusion. The float might be used for other occasions but should not be brought to this event as it is highly inappropriate. We urge the organiser(s) of the float not to bring it to the march.

I think that it IS appropriate to use the float!! it is a hard hitting float-but it gets to the real issue of Brexit. Please bring it!! Hugh Hamilton
