 New stretch target

Thank you so much for your support!

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes and should be able to share some exciting news with you in the coming days. Those of you that read The New European should see our presence already.

You’ve raised almost £50k in the initial fundraising window and have secured the logistics and infrastructure of the march and an advertising campaign.

Due to popular demand, we have decided to push on to raise £75k by way of an extension. This move will allow more to be invested in advertising, attracting attention and attendees and thus a larger impact.

This is our march, our chance to be seen, to make our voice heard.  Let's do this!

Stay tuned for updates.

• What's the message?
We want to remain in the European Union!

We value the peace, friendships, relationships, rights, business & academic collaborations, economic prosperity and outward-looking attitude that European Union membership delivers; it's best for the UK.

• What can we achieve?
We can embolden our elected representatives. The vast majority of our MPs support our membership of the European Union, but they need to know that we still do too - and just how many votes there are in adopting a pro-EU position. There is a long, unpredictable, road ahead that Parliament will have some (hopefully much!) control over; with our vocal support, they can stop Brexit.

We can change minds. As the damage of Brexit reveals itself over the coming months, we can help sway public opinion with our demonstration of support for the European Union and all its benefits.

We can send a message of goodwill to our European friends and neighbours.

• What do we need money for?

We need money for two main reasons: the essential costs for the provision of a march of this scale, and an advertising campaign. We need to create a buzz that will attract attendees and media attention and ensure a massive turnout. Only a large turnout will send a strong message that we will not stand for Brexit and that our voices must be heard.

Essential costs of march:

Security fees £2,000

Generator £1,500

Staging £3,500

Screens £1,500

Speakers £1,299

10 megaphones £160

20 first aid kits £300

Total: £10,259

National advertising campaign:

Ads in national newspapers - £9,000

National Rail and London Underground ad campaign £10,000 for campaign of 2-3 weeks across circa 150 sites

Other ads including banners, badges, leaflets and flyers - e.g. we've already invested £600 in 20,000 leaflets, we need £600 for 20,000 more - £2,000

Total £21,000

GRAND TOTAL:  £31,259

We will be sharing all invoices and expense receipts for all purchases and any remaining funds will be donated to charity or invested in a later pro-EU initiative with your consent.

• Why 25th March 2017?
Unite for Europe is timed to coincide with the UK Government’s stated intention to trigger Article 50 by the end of March 2017. We anticipate that due legal and Parliamentary process will prevent this happening significantly sooner.

March 25th 2017 is the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome, which established the European Economic Community.

Everybody who wants to must be able to attend this march. March 25th allows expats and those in more far-flung regions of the UK time to arrange their transport to London. Additionally, if Unite for Europe were held sooner, the wintery weather of January and February would pose a risk to the success of the march.

• What's the route?
We will be marching to Parliament. The exact route will be finalised when we have an indication of the number of marchers attending. The start location will be advertised here, on the Unite for Europe website and Twitter account, and in the national press.

• What should I bring?
Colourful flags or banners! The more positive the better – let’s show our EU love!

Layers of clothing, including waterproofs. Wear blue and yellow! Snacks and (non-alcoholic) drinks.
