Funding equipment and volunteer training to give young people in Tynemouth District Scouts safe access to kayaking and air rifle activities.

Tynemouth District Scouts supports young people from across North Tyneside to take part in adventurous activities, develop life skills, and build confidence.
Our volunteers deliver a wide range of programmes across local Scout Groups, from weekly meetings to outdoor adventures. As part of this, we are developing new opportunities for young people to experience activities such as paddlesports and target sports safely and responsibly.
Our aim is simple: to give more young people access to the kind of activities that challenge them, build resilience, and create lifelong memories.

We are raising funds to expand the adventurous activities available to young people across Tynemouth District Scouts.
Demand for activities such as kayaking and air rifle shooting continues to grow, but delivering these safely requires trained volunteers and appropriate safety equipment.
This project will allow us to train volunteers to nationally recognised standards and purchase the equipment needed to run activities safely and regularly for young people across the district.
By investing in both equipment and training, we can ensure these activities become sustainable long-term opportunities rather than one-off events.

Funds raised will be used to support both volunteer training and the equipment required to deliver activities safely.
Our planned investment includes:
Volunteer training
• National Governing Body paddlesports training and safety courses
• Target sports training and qualifications for volunteer instructors
Safety and activity equipment
• Paddlesports safety equipment (buoyancy aids, helmets, throwlines and rescue equipment)
• Air rifle equipment and safety kit for supervised target shooting
These investments will allow our volunteers to deliver regular activities for young people for many years to come.

This project will benefit young people across the whole of Tynemouth District.
By increasing the number of trained volunteers and improving access to equipment, we will be able to offer more adventurous activities to a wider range of young people.
These activities help young people develop confidence, teamwork, leadership, and resilience. They also encourage physical activity and time outdoors.
The equipment and trained volunteers will support Scout Groups across the district, enabling many different groups of young people to benefit rather than just one unit.
Over time this project will allow hundreds of young people to experience activities that might otherwise be inaccessible to them.
There are four simple ways you can help make this project a reality:
1. Make a pledge
Every contribution helps us get closer to providing these opportunities for young people.
2. Spread the word
Share our project with friends, family, and colleagues. The more people who see it, the more support we can build.
3. Offer rewards
Local businesses can support the project by donating items or experiences that we can offer as rewards to supporters.
4. Fundraise for us
If you would like to run your own fundraiser or sponsored activity to support the project, please get in touch using the contact button on this page.
Together we can help give more young people the chance to experience adventure.
