Aim

To raise £500 to kit out our 9 Truro City U8s Surfers with matching waterproof raincoats and 1/4 zip training tops for the season ahead.

Who are we?

We're the Truro City U8s Surfers — 9 young footballers and their dedicated volunteer coaches, part of Truro City Youth FC. We train and play together every week, whatever the Cornish weather throws at us, and we're a small, close-knit squad building something we're proud of.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We're raising money to kit out the whole squad in matching club jackets: a waterproof raincoat for wet matchdays and a 1/4 zip top for chilly training sessions.

Right now, kit is down to individual families to buy, which means some players are turning up in whatever they've got rather than proper matching gear. Getting everyone into the same kit means no child stands out for the wrong reasons, and it gives the squad a real sense of identity every time we step onto the pitch.

How we’ll spend the money raised

We are aiming to raise £500 to kit out the team with both sets of training gear, complete with club crest and sponsors' logo if any business is willing to fund the whole team.

Community impact

Truro City Youth Football Club is entirely volunteer-run, and the U8s Surfers are no exception — everything from coaching to organising kit is handled by a small, dedicated group of parents giving up their evenings and weekends because they believe in what the club offers these kids. Individual teams like ours are responsible for sourcing our own additional training kit and coaching gear, which is exactly why we're turning to crowdfunding rather than relying on the club as a whole.

Truro City Youth FC was established in 2002 to give young players across Truro and the surrounding areas the chance to play friendly and competitive football from U7s through to U16s. For the 2025/26 season the club runs 18 teams, including 3 girls-only sides competing in the Cornwall Youth Football League — with a strong ethos built around fun and inclusivity for every player, regardless of ability.

Beyond match-day teams, the club also runs a Saturday community football programme at Penair School (just £4 a session, pay-as-you-go, open to reception through year 6), a dedicated girls' programme — Truro City Youth Wildcats — for ages 5–11, and an associated Ladies team for players over 35 who want low-commitment, mixed-ability football.

Supporting the U8s Surfers isn't just about one team's jackets — it's about backing the volunteers who keep grassroots football running and accessible for the whole community.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success! If your business wants to donate the full amount for one or both of the jackets, we can arrange for your company name to be printed there.

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
