Aim: Aviva employees will be riding 330km coast to coast, in just one day, raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The Tour De Mentia

The Tour De Mentia is in its third, and final, year. Having started in 2023 with a one-day 210km ride from Norwich to London, last year saw the team ride from York to London in two and half days covering 500km, and on 2 July this year they will go one step further, taking on ‘The Longest Day’.

In celebration of Aviva turning 330 years old in 2026, the Tour De Mentia team, made up of Aviva employees and insurance broker partners, will be riding 330km coast to coast, from Rochester in Kent to Weston Super Mare in Somerset in just one day. This gruelling ride, beginning at dawn, will be further than any of the riders have ridden before in one day, and an incredible test both physically and mentally, with the riders being on their bikes for anywhere up to 16 hours.

The aim of the Tour De Mentia was to cover 1000km over three events and raise £100,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society with Insurance United Against Dementia. This ride will see the team hit that 1000km and with your support hopefully see them achieve their incredible fundraising target which will do so much in the fight against dementia.

The journey:

The distance:

330km in one day! (That’s 205 miles, and longer than any professional one-day road cycling race!)

Starting:

Rochester, Kent at 4am

Finishing:

Weston Super Mare, Somerset some 16 hours later!

Alzheimer's Society

As a Society, we are made up of people with dementia, carers, trusted experts, campaigners, researchers and clinicians. We are the UK’s largest collective force of people with unparalleled knowledge and over 40 years of experience addressing the biggest challenges facing people living with dementia

We’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future, through;

  • Providing dementia support services such as our support line, online and print information, expert dementia advisers and online community, giving advice and practical guidance for the next steps as people living with dementia navigate the hardest times of their lives
  • Funding dementia research, backing the world’s brightest minds and funding over 600 research projects to find the best ways to get early diagnosis, innovate care and develop targeted treatments
  • Campaign action to hold decision-makers to account, and amplify the voices of everyone living with dementia

With your help we can give vital support to those who need it most, hold decision-makers to account, and fund groundbreaking research to transform the future for everyone living with dementia.

Why we need your support today

Dementia is the biggest health and social challenge of our time. There are currently estimated to be 900,000 people in the UK with dementia. Many are undiagnosed and facing the realities of their condition alone. As a Society, and with the help of our supporters, we’re changing that.

With your help we can give vital support to those who need it most, hold decision-makers to account, and fund groundbreaking research to transform the future for everyone living with dementia.

Together we are help and hope for everyone living with dementia
