Aim

Empowering women as land stewards: Wild Wool Shepherdess unites ancestral skills with ecological renewal for community, healing, and growth.

1759762460_img-20250402-wa0008.jpgI’m Elizabeth Iekawehatie Kneafsey - The Wild Wool Shepherdess and founder of the "Heron Homestead"village community project. My journey spans many years as a shepherdess, wildlife advocate, wolf guardian, mother and teacher of ancient craft. Weaving together ancestral skills, holistic land stewardship, and biodynamic, regenerative practices in deep connection with intuition, earth energies, herbal medicine - animal and human, and reclaiming our roots.

We have a vibrant circle of conservationists, craftspeople, community activists, smallholders, farmers, and heritage builders. Together, we champion sustainable farming, healing crafts, and the empowerment of women in rural life and embodiment of the wild woman returning .

Vision

REMEMBERING OUR ROOTS

REDISCOVERING OUR ORIGINS

RECLAIMING OUR LAND

Our vision is a sanctuary on our own land - where the 'Wild Flock' of sheep graze, real food growth and land protection, where women rediscover traditional wisdom, and people of all backgrounds gather to heal, learn, grow and create independence. We want this land to serve as both a working farm and a community hub, offering hands-on workshops in shepherding, ancestral crafts like blade shearing, wool and leather work, bushcraft and survival skills, wild medicine and restorative ecology. At its heart are opportunities for women - especially mothers, single parents, and those new to farming - to reclaim forgotten skills, build confidence, and thrive as the true custodians of the land that we are and always have been.In close connection with our Mother Nature.

How Will Funds Be Used

Every donation towards our £200,000 Crowdfunder target takes us closer to securing a permanent home for our project - a place for conservation grazing animals, immersive workshops and retreats, nature-based healing, and a place to be inspired to see life as you'd truly like to live it, away from the constraints of a fractured society. Time to take back your autonomy from those who wish to control your one and precious life. This project will help you to discover a way to live life supporting you and your families own health, food production, how to be sustainable and provide all your needs, in a way taught to us by our elders and not being reliant on external 'higher' forces. The time is now to become the author of your own story. We can help you remember who you are and bring this to life!

The funds will:

  • Acquire and restore approximately 20 acres of land for the community foundation, conservation grazing and ecological renewal, safeguarding British rural heritage.
  • Support animal welfare for heritage breeds, including sustainable pasture, fencing, and herbal/ homeopathic medicinal care.
  • The community can then build barns, round houses, craft studios/workshops, and teaching spaces so women and young people can learn, create, and connect.
  • Leading to community events like shearing festivals, guest craft workers sharing their skills, inclusive training, earth energy gatherings and wild medicine apothecary for rural resilience and health.
  • Create safe havens and apprenticeship programs, nurturing the next generation of female farmers, crafters, and land guardians.

Join Us

This vision is rooted in my story but belongs to all who dream of a life living from the land. In reciprocity with the wild beings and cycles we once lived by. Where women lead, traditions endure, and community flourishes.

Join us to build a legacy of empowerment and rural renewal - where women and communities flourish together in a safe, vibrant hub who wish to reconnect with themselves, nature and tradition.

Together we can make this land a living legacy, reclaiming our land, food, freedom and sovereignty.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your support.

Elizabeth, The Wild Wool Shepherdess x
