Aim

The weekend turns 100 in May. Help the 4 Day Week Foundation fund their anniversary campaign sprint through May.

100 years ago, workers won the weekend. Now it's time for the next great shift.

On 1 May 1926, workers began switching from working six days a week to five. 100 years on, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to win the next leap forward: a four-day working week for all.

In the last few years, we've proved it - the four-day week works.

Some of our wins in the last year:

1. More than 200,000 UK workers switch to four-day week since 2019

2. 100% success rate on our latest four-day week pilot

3. Over 255 companies accredited

4. The first local council permanently adopted a four-day week

5. 1,000+ media hits across national outlets

6. 40+ workplace and sector-wide campaigns were supported

The 4 Day Week Foundation has led the UK's national campaign for a four-day week: supporting hundreds of organisations and tens of thousands of workers to make the shift, running national pilots and building a movement that brings together workers and employers.

Now, trade unions are on board. Employers are listening. Workers are organising.

Why this month matters

We need to raise at least £10,000 to fund our anniversary campaign sprint through May. Your donation will help us to:

  • Hold actions and events marking the 100-year anniversary of the weekend - making it a moment the country can't ignore (Cost: £5,000)
  • Help thousands of workers organise and campaign for change in their own workplaces (£50 funds an hour of organising support)
  • Convince more employers to adopt the four-day week, and support them to make it stick (£65 funds an hour employer consultation)
  • Turn successful pilots into permanent, lasting policy change

A century ago, the idea of a two-day weekend seemed radical. Now, it’s standard. The four-day week is the same fight - and we're closer than ever.

Donate today and help us make the four-day week the new normal.
