The Uniform Store and Children's Storehouse

Aim

We want to provide a more permanent home for the Uniform Store - one that can be open all year round, and host the Children's Storehouse

The USP collects good quality second hand school uniform and gives it away to anyone who wants it. Until now we have only been able to open the shop over the summer months. This will provide a stable location where people can find us, and help us develop the USP. We have a shop but it needs accessible toilets and a few repairs to make it habitable.

Over August 2022 alone we gave uniform to over 1500 families! Schools have begun to use us to help them provide affordable uniform for their parents. And it helps the environment too - this year we have saved 2 tons of uniform from landfill.

The money would be spent on installing an accessible toilet and small kitchenette area on the ground floor for our team and our customers, as well as repairing some windows and putting down carpet in the areas where it is needed. We also want a shared office space on the first floor.

We will share the building with 2 other projects - the Children's Storehouse will hold its drop in on the ground floor and the guys from the Climate Hub will be using some space on the first floor. We are exploring the option of a food pantry as well. Teamwork makes the dream work!
