The project would fund computers for support sites, allowing our team to organise and deliver ongoing support for people who feel suicidal.
At The Listening Place we provide free, ongoing, face-to-face support to people who feel life is no longer worth living. Our support is delivered by our team of 900 volunteers, who support our visitors at fortnightly in-person appointments at our three London sites, for as long as it takes to reduce their suicidal feelings. We currently support up to 8,000 people a year. In October 2025, we opened our fourth support site, giving us capacity to support an additional 2,500 suicidal people annually.
£4,998 would fully fund the training of 16 volunteers to open up our shifts to max capacity and provide 180 appointments every day, seven days a week, to support our suicidal visitors. This would be an essential resource for delivering our support, allowing us to respond to referrals, schedule and reschedule appointments, and fulfil any volunteer absences for our visitors to talk to. This cost includes a comprehensive, highly selective training programme through an attendance of seven modules at our training sites, including any follow-up training needed.
