Aim

Aim: Michael Lonergan will be walking to support the work of The Jack Lonergan Foundation & Walk92 - An amazing football based charity.

Why I'm Walking

3 things you should know about Jack.

  • His absolute devotion to AFC Wimbledon which included travelling home and away to see The Dons in action.
  • His incredible musical talent nurtured from an early age.
  • His devotion to teaching and passion for working with children whose family circumstances limited their access to opportunities

Walk92 gives me the opportunity to tick off a few football grounds that Jack was sadly not able to visit, re-visit some grounds that were memorable to us, and at the same time raise funds for all the things that meant so much to him. Thankfully, Jack went to so many grounds following Wimbledon that I will not need to do all 92 (allegiances would only allow me to visit 91 anyway...), but I have selected quite a few which are listed below totaling more than 250 miles, so any contributions to support all these great causes would be much appreciated.

Walk92 is more than just a walk; it’s a movement that celebrates football’s power to bring people together and make a difference. Funds raised through this initiative support various community projects, including those tackling youth homelessness, promoting mental health, and fostering inclusion through sport. By participating, I can contribute to these vital causes and demonstrate the positive role young people can play in society.

Where your donations go?

All funds raised will be split equally:

  • 50% will support Walk92’s partner charities, including the Street Soccer Foundation and Sport Local Action, which use football to empower individuals facing challenges like homelessness and social exclusion.
  • 50% will go towards enhancing the music provision for children from low-income families across South London via The Jack Lonergan Foundation - Weekly term-time classes include ukulele, guitar, beatboxing, music technology, DJ skills and more.

About us

The Jack Lonergan Foundation has been established to promote musical education for young people who may not have access to such opportunities.

Working with partner organisations, our focus is to ensure that financial support and provision of instruments is available to children and young adults who have an appetite to learn to play an instrument, sing, or develop music tech skills.

Money raised by The Jack Lonergan Foundation supports children from low income families to develop life-long musical skills.

A passionate and dedicated music teacher, Jack cared deeply about every child’s development, regardless of their social background. He devoted his teaching time and his own time to ensuring that all children had the opportunity to engage in music beyond just a set of earphones.

Jack’s life was tragically taken, way too soon, at the age of 28. The foundation aims to build a legacy for his life, building upon the impact that his enthusiasm for life and music has already had on so many children.

Walk 92 - The Walk of Clubs

Sport Local Action and The Street Soccer Foundation are launching The Walk of Clubs – a major fundraising walk across all 92 league clubs, part of Football For Good.

Together, we’ll raise vital funds and shine a spotlight on the incredible community work football achieves every day.

We aim to recruit thousands of walkers, raising significant funds for amazing projects and driving thousands of hours of volunteering. Each walker will have the opportunity to connect with your organisation’s volunteer opportunities when they sign up. Together, we’ll celebrate football’s unique ability to unite communities and change lives.

*Funds raised on this project will be split between this project (50%), Sport Local Action (25%) and The Street Soccer Foundation (25%).
