We're still collecting donations
On the 30th June 2022 we'd raised £1,365 with 11 supporters in 55 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We aim to introduce a BOX GYM (Cross Fit Style) An area we can strength train as a team and learn lifting techniques together.

WHERE IT BEGAN
Katie and Karen originally started The Happy Wee Health Club in January 2021 when the 2nd Lockdown was announced. We wanted to combat loneliness. We understood the physical and mental challenges the Lockdowns had imposed and decided to put together a simple online group for people to join us each morning and evening to work on mindset, meditation, group fitness workouts and we even had social cookalongs.
We quickly realised the need for our club in the community and as one of our members put it - built a plane in flight - as the months went on.
Once group fitness restrictions lifted in May, we hired community halls around the area and travelled each night with our equipment, speakers and laptops (so we could still reach the people at home not ready to join us live)
WHERE WE ARE NOW
In October 2021 we signed a lease for an amazing space in Oban - which had the perfect room in the back to become a group fitness studio. We renovated this space to the highest standard and our membership grew again as we were able to offer more classes - adult classes, kids clubs, parent and baby.
We continue to offer all of our classes online, as we know there are still people isolated (yes sometimes with or because of covid) but we are surrounded with so many rural communities - people with children at home and no childcare, more comfortable at home, able to join a class with less pressure - the list is endless
OUR PLEDGE - WHERE WE ARE GOING
We have spent time asking the community and researching what would be best for the 2nd (bigger) room in the building. We know there is massive need for another gym in the town - we just like to be a little different. The big reason for The Happy Wee Health Club was to create a community within the community. That's why a BOX GYM / CROSSfit style would be perfect.
We want to help people build strength as this is so important for physical health. We know how daunting gym facilities are, but we can change this. By teaching correct lifting techniques - putting on group trainings where we support one another rather than compete.
We will use this project to soundproof the room, put down gym flooring, wood chip walls and install equipment - Squat racks, barbells, dumbbells, boxes and ropes.
The Happy Wee Health Club is THE place to come and do group fitness and we will continue to do this, but we also know the importance of strength training, to progress results, improve bone density, improve self esteem, joint health, injury prevention, weight loss and SO much more.
