The Drift Lounge Experience – A Recycled Sensory Sanctuary in Holt
At 44 I was diagnosed with ADHD and realised something heartbreaking: there was nowhere safe for my brain to just drift without masking or feeling overwhelmed.
So I'm building it myself.
Drift Lounge is a calm, ND-friendly sensory sanctuary.....we would love to find, source and fit out an industrial unit in Holt, North Norfolk.
A gentle space where neurodivergent adults, kids, families — anyone who needs it — can slow down, regulate, and feel safe to unmask.
Imagine stepping into soft pastel zones with recycled textures that hug instead of overwhelm. Gentle soundscapes. Cosy weighted seating. Decompression pods you can dip into anytime. A social hub where connection happens without pressure.
We're doing this the real way:
My builder father-in-law, artist daughter-in-law, handy son & husband, and youngest (who brings the autism insight) are turning the empty unit into magic with our own hands.
Community donations of fabric scraps, lights, wood and more are already rolling in — we're upcycling everything into glowing tactile rooms and calming elements. And we have a live Amazon Wishlist on our Instagram bio.
Your support helps us add the basics: acoustic damping, lighting, initial sound bath pods and weighted features so we can open the doors.
This isn't just another wellness spot. It's the exhale space I desperately needed after diagnosis — now being created for everyone in North Norfolk who feels the same.

More of us are being diagnosed late. Schools are desperate for sensory tools. Companies are waking up to burnout. Drift Lounge will offer timed sessions, school group visits, corporate resets and memberships — all designed so you can drift, anchor or explore at your own gentle pace.
