Aim

THANK YOU! We achieved our £30,000 target. Now raising an extra £8,000 to redevelop the old clubhouse and complete the next phase.

Our Next Overall Crowdfunder Target....£38,000

By May 2026, we successfully achieved our initial fundraising target of £30,000. Alongside additional fundraising efforts and several successful grant applications, we have now secured a total of £68,000, enabling us almost fund Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the project. These phases will deliver a significant extension to the clubhouse, including brand-new changing facilities, showers, and toilet provisions.

The club has experienced substantial growth in recent years across junior, women’s, and girls’ cricket, alongside increased use of the clubhouse by the wider community. Unfortunately, the existing facilities have not kept pace with this expansion. The redevelopment will provide fully accessible spaces, additional changing areas, and a far more welcoming environment for players, officials, volunteers, and visitors alike.

Our next fundraising priority is to secure a further £8,000 to support Phase 3, which focuses on redeveloping the existing clubhouse. This phase will transform the current space into a larger, modern, open-plan social area capable of hosting club events, community activities, and social gatherings throughout the year. In addition to our ongoing fundraising efforts, we are also seeking further support through applications to Basildon Council and the Essex Community Foundation which will secure the fully development of Phase 3.

Who are we?

Basildon and Pitsea Cricket Club is a well established and welcoming community club with a rapidly growing membership of more than 250 players. We run six adult league sides and a thriving junior programme for children from age 5 up to 19. Our clubhouse was built in the 1970s and, with the club continuing to grow, it is now time to develop it so it can meet the needs of our members and visitors. Families are at the heart of our club and our ground is a place where people of all ages come together to enjoy cricket, make friends and feel part of something special. As one of the key sporting centres in Basildon, we provide a space for the whole community to enjoy, whether they are playing, watching or taking part in local cricket.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised so far will allow us to build the external shell of the new extension. The further funds we are seeking will enable us to complete the internal works and make the new clubhouse fully usable.

How we will spend the money raised

Every donation will go directly toward completing the clubhouse extension. Funding will cover:
• Accessible entrance improvements
• New changing rooms with adequate space for junior, senior, female and umpires
• Upgraded toilets with full accessibility
• Heating, lighting and energy efficient systems
• Interior finishes and fittings needed to bring the new spaces into full use

A detailed budget can be shared with donors so everyone can see how their support is helping us finish the project.

Community impact

This project will transform our club into a true community hub. The improved and fully accessible clubhouse will serve players, families, schools, disability groups and local organisations that use our facilities throughout the year. A more inclusive space will allow us to run extra sessions for juniors, women and girls, and host community meetings, social events and activities that bring people together.

A larger clubhouse will also create an important new income stream, which will help us reinvest in the club. This will allow us to fund future projects such as ground improvements and facility upgrades without placing a burden on our members. Our membership fees are kept deliberately low so that the whole community can take part, so having additional revenue is essential for long term sustainability.

The extension will help us strengthen community ties, widen participation and provide greater access to sport and social opportunities for everyone in Basildon.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards or materials towards our project. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters or the project. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
