Aim

Help Make Thackley Cricket Club Accessible to Everyone. Help us raise £15,000 to improve accessibility and create a more inclusive clubhouse

Help us make Thackley Cricket Club accessible to everyone

Thackley Cricket Club has been part of the local community since 1879.

Cricket remains at the heart of what we do, with senior and junior teams providing opportunities for people of different ages to take part in the game. But the clubhouse is also increasingly used by the wider community, including local schools, youth activities, community groups, families and local residents.

We want to make sure that everyone can use it.

The problem

At present, parts of our clubhouse are difficult or impossible for some people with mobility impairments to access independently.

That is something we want to change.

We are developing plans to improve accessibility throughout the clubhouse and create a facility that is more welcoming and practical for disabled people, players, spectators, families and community users.

We are also working towards becoming an ECB Disability Cricket Champion Club, helping us develop more opportunities for disabled people to take part in cricket and become involved in the club.

What are we raising money for?

Our Crowdfunder target is £15,000.

The money raised will contribute towards improvements including:

  • better access into and around the clubhouse;
  • an accessible toilet;
  • associated drainage and building works;
  • improvements to levels, ramps and access routes;
  • improvements to internal access and movement around the building; and
  • creating a more flexible and accessible community space.

These improvements are part of a wider programme of investment in Thackley Cricket Club and will help ensure that the clubhouse can be used by as many people as possible.

Why?

We don't want someone's mobility or disability to determine whether they can take part in cricket, watch a family member play, attend an event or use a community facility.

Improving the clubhouse will help us:

  • make cricket more accessible;
  • create more opportunities for disabled participants;
  • improve the experience for existing members and visitors;
  • provide better facilities for children, young people and families;
  • increase the number of community organisations able to use the clubhouse; and
  • develop Thackley Cricket Club as a more inclusive, year-round community facility.

This is a club and community effort

Over the coming weeks our senior and junior sections, supporters, sponsors, local businesses and community partners will all be getting involved in the campaign.

Some weeks will include opportunities for local businesses and sponsors to match donations, meaning your contribution could go even further.

Whether you can give £5, £10, £25 or more, every donation moves us closer to our target.

And if you aren't able to donate, you can still make a major difference by sharing this page with family, friends, colleagues and local businesses.

Help us reach £15,000

Thackley Cricket Club has served its community for generations.

With your support, we can make sure the next chapter is one in which everyone is able to come through the door and be part of the club.

Donate. Share. Help us make Thackley accessible to everyone.

Thank you from everyone at Thackley Cricket Club.
