Team ‘Run for Rees’: Supporting Young Care Leavers Across the UK

On Sunday, 9th March, Team ‘Run for Rees’ will take on the Inverness Half Marathon and 5K Run, covering an incredible combined distance of 124km. Our mission? To raise vital funds for young Care Leavers aged 16-25 across the UK who face unimaginable challenges every single day.

Imagine being taken into care as a child—perhaps after suffering abuse, neglect, or the devastating loss of your parents. Instead of the stability of a loving home, these young people often endure multiple moves, new foster carers, or life in a residential home. By the time they leave care, they’ve already faced more than most of us can imagine. And then? They’re left to face the challenges of adulthood—alone.

It’s a heartbreaking reality. But together, we can change it.

We’re running to support the Rees Foundation, a lifeline for Care Leavers. Rees steps in where no one else can, offering:

  • Crisis grants for when they’re hungry and have no money for food.
  • Energy vouchers to keep them warm when the heating has gone off.
  • Emergency accommodation when there’s nowhere else to turn.
  • Education grants to help them follow their dreams and build a better future.
  • Emotional and mental health support, to remind them that they are not alone.

Rees helps these young people not just survive but thrive.

We’re a team of 12 runners of all ages and abilities, united by a shared determination to make a difference.

But we can’t do it without you.

Any Donation or Support you can offer makes a huge difference!

Thankyou - Team 'Run for Rees'
