TAAG CIO

RCN 1188013, Teignmouth

TAAG CIO (Teignmouth Arts Action Group) has been at the forefront of the arts in Teignmouth for over thirteen years. Our Arts & Community Centre hosts exhibitions and arts workshops and is well used by over 30 groups from the local community for their activities.. Volunteers steward the centre daily from 10am to 5pm and we only close on Christmas day. We are appealing for contributions to help finance the ongoing refurbishment and provide arts services for the community going forward.Currently we are seeking to raise funds to help us with the second phase of our work which includes providing a permanent staircase and replacing the majority of the roof. Work will start in November this year and continue until March. The building will remain open during most of this period. The staircase will cost us in the region of £40,000 so anything you are able to donate will be a great help. Thank you.

Teignmouth Arts Action Group (TAAG) is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. It was originally formed to improve communication between artists and art organisations, and to facilitate arts in the Teignmouth area. Over a period of thirteen  years it has developed into a community hub and has attracted other arts-related businesses to the area, which is now designated as Teignmouth's Arts Quarter.

Our Arts and Community Centre is used by over 30 organisations for activities which include: arts & craft workshops, Teignvironment, carers’ workshops, Devon Learning Recovery NHS workshops, multicultural festivals, Devon Open Studios, TRAIL recycled art, language classes, book clubs, lantern making and more. Our two galleries host weekly exhibitions by amateur and professional artists.

In 2020 we bought the TAAG building for, and with the assistance of, the local community, and we are currently carrying out essential repair works having reopened  the ground floor and resuming the provision of arts and well-being services. We are applying for grant aid to redevelop the upper floors, providing a workshop and art studios, which will aid our future sustainability.

Currently we are about to commence the second phase of our refurbishment which will include replacement of the majority of the old roof and provide a permanent staircase. Any donations you are able to make wil, help us to complete this important work.

Hi there...Maddy Moon Norris here. TAAG has been an important part of my life, right from the very beginning, when the first seeds of the idea were sown...and now look! What a tremendous Cultural Centre and Art Gallery coming to fruition! Even though I no longer live in Devon, TAAG remains deeply embedded in my heart. As an Artist, I am more than happy to support this wonderful project...I hope my donation can go towards a few roof tiles. www.maddyartist.com
