Aim

Transition Homeless Project aims to eliminate poverty and homelessness, helping to change lives and provide hope towards a better future

Transition Homeless Project is a registered charity serving the local community in North West London.  We aim to eliminate homelessness and poverty, to empower the homeless, and promote independent living. Transition Homeless Project is committed to transforming the lives of individuals experiencing poverty, at risk of eviction, homeless or rough sleeping. Our soup kitchen is available to anyone in need of a warm meal and safe place to stay. In light of the growing challenges caused by the UK’s cost-of-living crisis. We aim to minimise homelessness in London by offering essential services, support, and pathways to independent living.

Our aim is to support individuals through and beyond poverty or a housing crisis   preventing people from experiencing the impact of rough sleeping.

As the cost-of-living and energy prices continue to rise, it has been extremely challenging.  The excessive rise in fuel, food, utilities, mortgage rates and rental costs have left several people struggling to make ends meet. Transition Homeless project recognises the needs within the community; homelessness on the streets has increased and there are more people begging especially in Town Centres and surrounding streets.

Unfortunately, homelessness in London is increasing, there are 187,000 homeless people in London (Shelter December 2024).The demand for services providing a hot meal, food banks and advise is growing extensively.

Across English regions and Wales, the highest percentage of people identified as homeless was in London; 24.8% of all people identified as homeless were located in this region (3,460 people). Office of National Statistics.

In 2024, (July - September) 798 women were reported rough sleeping in London. We provide tailored support for homeless women who cite domestic abuse as the key reason for ending up homeless on the streets.

Transition Homeless Project offers various services including finance and debt management, housing advise, poverty prevention, plus careers advice and workshops.
