With the help of our volunteers and partners, we coordinate a network of food banks, kitchens, a community shop and café. These act as a gateway for guests to access more holistic support – including welfare advice, asylum support and our award-winning community garden.
We aim to work with our guests to find solutions to their challenges together, whilst campaigning against the causes of hunger and poverty.
Sufra offers holistic support to our service-users (guests) through the following programme of activities:
Our Emergency Food Aid Service provides food, toiletries, baby supplies and other essentials to families and individuals through three food bank sessions in high deprivation areas and our Fresh Meals Service supports those unable to prepare fresh food due to ill health or lack of cooking facilities.
Our Community Kitchens offer free, nutritious meals to people in poverty, experiencing homelessness, or facing isolation, nurturing a sense of community and belonging.
Our Welfare Advisors provide support and guidance to guests, helping reduce reliance on food aid by tackling issues like benefit disruptions, rent arrears and homelessness, supporting them towards financial stability.
Our OpenARMs programme provides community activities and tailored advice to asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants, helping them build a new life in the UK and reduce isolation.
Our Community Engagement Programme supports volunteers to access training and gain employment skills. Our garden provides organic produce for the local community, while serving as a therapeutic and educational space.
Our Community Wellbeing Service is an early intervention service supporting families facing food insecurity through access to a Community Shop, Café, Kitchen, advice services, workshops, and social events.
