Aim: Many Hands uses creativity and peer support to help people, through exploring, understanding and improving their mental health

Many Hands is a non-profit CIC in Silsden, West Yorkshire with a focus on social wellbeing and mental health. We are a small team of volunteers who help individuals in1749061943_team.jpg understanding and overcoming their problems; from mental health, to social and individual contexts. A person's individual and wider contexts can and do affect their mental health, and have a massive effect on their ability to live life to the full. We meet people facing different issues all the time in the work we do, but we find that more often that not they have similar outcomes. These include a lack of self-esteem and confidence, a feeling of being lost or isolated, or being unable to cope with the emotions they have. This can affect every aspect of their life, leading to a unhappy present and an uncertain future.

We provide workshops and drop-in sessions for people to come and begin to understand, explore and improve their me1749061979_494822008_710983814750646_5164064140190743539_n.jpgntal health. We as a team understand how much poor mental health can affect our lives, and we have a wealth of lived experiences that we are willing to share with people. Peer support is a method used to provide people with a higher chance of feeling included, less isolated and more understood in their social contexts.

We also use1749062007_491356678_1269286431869463_9135769874958614886_n.jpg creativity to help people to understand and explore their own mental health. Creativity allows us to explore and express emotions that we may not fully understand yet. Creativity also is a vessel for conversations to be brought up that may otherwise be difficult in a simple face-to-face talking setting.

Many Hands has helped numerous people over the years we have been open, and we know that there are more people in the future of Many Hands who really need us.

We rely on funding from grants and donations, and we are not paid staff. We provide Many Hands as a service because we know just how much mental health support is needed in the community.
