Secure the future of Sturmer Garden Centre — keeping our team employed and helping us create a magical community centred space.
We took ownership of Sturmer Garden Centre and its 40 year history in September 2024. We have done our upmost to create a peaceful sanctuary for our community of plant lovers, families, and children looking to discover the magic of nature.
From our two acres of gardens and woodlands to our café and children’s woodland learning area, we’ve poured our hearts into creating something truly special — a place where community and nature grow together.
But this summer, we faced a devastating setback.
In the height of the growing season — our most vital trading period — we suffered supplier failures. That failure left us without core products during peak demand, leading to huge financial losses we could never have predicted or absorbed on our own.
Despite record community engagement, loyal customers, and an incredible team, this has left us in a critical position that we can no longer face on our own.
We’re not giving up. 🌱
We’re asking for your help to save our independent garden centre and reimagine it for the future — for our community, our staff, and the generations of children who deserve to discover the joy of growing.
Your support will help us:
1. Secure the future of Sturmer Garden Centre — keeping our team employed and operations running.
2. Rebuild stock and displays lost from the summer supplier collapse.
3. Develop the Chromatic Learning Garden — a magical outdoor classroom for children.
4. Extend our café & create covered all-season spaces for families to enjoy year-round.
5. Plant a community legacy garden/allotment — every donor’s name will be honoured within it.
6. Possibly create a small petting farm, the girls love this idea, what do you think?
7. Create a space that the community needs - we will consult with the community for ideas and suggested projects.

“This has been the most rewarding and also hardest year of our lives. We’ve worked tirelessly to create something beautiful for our community — but the supplier failings this summer hit us at the worst possible time. It has been the hardest and most heart-wrenching admission that we are in this position.
Whilst our mortgage company has insisted we list the garden centre for sale we are hopeful that through this campaign we will be able to stay and retain ownership. If we were to sell we would offer a refund to anyone that wished it.
With your help, we can turn this crisis into rebirth. We can keep our staff, finish our children’s garden, create community centred spaces and keep this place alive for everyone who loves it.”
