Stride for Success - Supporting Care Leavers Throughout the month of June, volunteers from across the UK will take on a month-long walking challenge, setting their own pace and distance. Everyone and anyone is invited to join in, no distance is too little. This challenge isn’t just about covering miles—it’s about helping Care-Experienced People overcome emotional and life-changing obstacles. It’s about giving Care Leavers the chance to rise above their past and step confidently toward a brighter future.

Why Your Support Matters

Imagine starting life without the safety and comfort of a stable home. For many people in care, this means facing trauma from an early age—whether through neglect, loss, or abuse. Instead of growing up in one place with a consistent support system, they may be moved multiple times, adjusting to new carers, schools, and surroundings. By the time they leave care, many have already experienced more upheaval and uncertainty than most of us face in a lifetime.

Too many Care Leavers end up homeless, unemployed, or struggling with mental health issues. In fact, 39% of Care Leavers aged 19–21 are not in education, employment, or training (NEET). With no family to rely on, financial crisis can mean choosing between eating or heating.

Now, more than ever, with the cost of living spiraling, this reality is even worse. Rising rents, unaffordable bills, and growing food insecurity are hitting vulnerable people the hardest. For Care Leavers, who often lack any form of safety net, this crisis isn’t just difficult—it’s devastating.

What the Money Will Be Used For

We’re raising £5,000 to help Rees Foundation continue this vital work. Your donation could:

• Provide Emergency Support with Crisis grants for essentials like food, gas, and electricity.
• Fund Emotional Health Support- Access to mental health and emotional wellbeing services tailored to the unique challenges Care Leavers face.
• Education & Training Support - Providing access to education, skills training, and career pathways -giving Care Leavers the tools and opportunities to build a brighter, independent future.
• Housing with Support -  Outreach workers help Care Leavers maintain safe, stable homes—supporting them with budgeting, life skills, and access to vital services.

Last year, Rees Foundation supported over 2,000 Care Leavers—proving just how vital this work is. But Rees is more than a charity. We’re a community. A tribe. For many, we’re the family they never had.

We offer consistent support, love, and understanding—especially during life’s toughest moments. For Care Experienced people, that kind of stability can change everything. Care Leavers have faced more than most of us can imagine. But with the right support, they can overcome, achieve, and thrive.
